A ride of 2010:11:14. Potrero Seco is a road threaded between wilderness areas, starting at a locked gate at the top of the 33 (just where the road to Mt Pinos heads off to the right). You can get a permit from the forest service. The road runs for 14 miles west and then south, and the irony is that after all the time and miles of driving inland to reach the start of the road, when you reach the end of the road you are only 10 miles from the sea at Carpinteria.
Doesn’t this look like fun? The road rises and falls steeply enough to be exciting but is never technical or scary, mostly because it’s really a road, with clear well-packed truck tire tracks. Naturally the views from the highest points are the best.
Behind the motorcycle you can see the road we’re about take winding over a hill and down along a ridge - and behind that, the sea.

This and the next few photos are taken at the end of the road, where it comes to a locked gate. There are some dry ponds.

Here we’ve started back along the same road. We stop often to take photos wherever the best views are.
