A ride of 2014:04:06. This visit to Upper Oso and Buckhorn Road was cut off by rocks that had fallen on the trail due to the recent single rain of the winter. Some brave souls were getting further up the trail, but we decided not to. So after a pause for photos (and to recover our breath after dealing with the rocks), we headed back down and went down Camuesa Road, going through two quite impressively full river crossings before stopping for lunch in the rocky canyon bottom.
The route as shown in Google Earth. Starting at Upper Oso on the left, we turned left at the ridge and headed up Buckhorn until we had had enough of the rocks. Then we came back down to the ridge and turned left again, down to Camuesa Road.
Here we are at the bottom, where we stopped and had lunch. This phlox grows in the scruffiest places. We clambered down to the right, into the stream below the cement bridge, and that’s where the next photos were taken.

A wonderful spot, out of the hot sun. Unfortunately, while looking at the photo, you can’t also hear the running water and the birds that we heard.

There’s something about water over rock. I have the impression, looking at the vertical striations on the left, that there has been some geology at work here.

At the ridge where the two ways meet, just before plunging back down the hill to Upper Oso and the car.
